National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) kicked off this week and I’m off to a great start. It’s hard to get into that “get the words on the page” mode, but this is a good way to force me to get over it.
Current word count: 3811/50,000
Tackling another writing project while job hunting while in school while editing another project. What I appreciate every November, is the profound sense of discipline, that I really should learn from so that it can be maintained all year.
Here are some things that got written this week:
- Kingdom Calling has an opening which is definitely garbage, but it’s my garbage
- Edits on the 3rd Act of Thieves Project are almost done
Song of the Week: “Övningsköra” by Slagsmålsklubben (2009)
Actively Reading: Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie
So wonderful to see the word counts coming in, wishing I could take part this year. Best wishes.

Congrats to you, Jo! I also love that you wrote “my garbage”. I know it probably doesn’t seem like it, but that was really inspiring to me. Every time I sit down to write, I just have this *ugh* feeling, because I feel everything I’m writing is shit. But you’re right: it’s *my* shit and the fact that I’m getting it written at all is huge.
