I’ve itemized all the scenes in Thieves Project and holy hell, does a lot happen in that book. That and I’m concerned I’ll constrain myself so much, it’ll accidentally turn into a novella.
I’m sitting on my couch with my work laptop in on my sore running things, writing the last headline and last synopsis for the last scene of the book. I look at my work and cover my face with my hands, groaning, “Oh my god, why did that have so many scenes?”
To which my friend responds, “Look, you probably needed all those other scenes to understand that world, those characters, and that story. They’re still there, just in a different way.”
It’s a lovely sentiment. There are so many slain darlings, y’all.
